After I saw Mike Tramp performing as
support act for ZZ Top here at Dresden, I was infected again, with his
show and his music, he again touched my soul. So I decided to go to
Denmark to see the show in his hometown together with other trampsters.
I searched the internet for the cheapest way to go there. And I found
something.
Right after work on friday afternoon I started my journey, destination
Berlin. I had to spend the night their because the bus to Copenhagen
left early in the morning, but with some friends living at Berlin, that
wasn't a problem at all. Finally in the bus on my way to Denmark I
started doubting on myself. What am I doing here, spending lot of money
for travelling to a foreign country just to see a concert, I don't even
speak the language! I must be crazy!
But the longer the bus drove, the more I was looking forward to the
evening. What will me expect? Will I understand the others? No needs to
worry, as I arrived at the danish capital the others were already
waiting for me. It was a warm welcome!
We had to spend several hours until the event will begin, some have been
very nervous, they couldn't wait any longer, but that was understandable,
they came from France and Holland to Copenhagen, they travelled twice as
long as I did.
The clock seemed to be out of order, the hours don't passed! But finally
it was time to took our way to Vesterbro, the part of Copenhagen, where
the Pumpehuset is located.
Before the concert we already met some of the musicians. That was a warm
welcome! Some couldn't believe to see us foreigners their.
We again had to wait for more than an hour, then we were allowed to
enter the place. Most of us Trampsters started running to get the best
place infront of Mike, I was very amused, I thought we will see a rock
show and not a boygroup!
At exactly nine the lights went out and the music started. The four
musicians hit the stage, and the girls started screaming! I voluntery
changed my first row place between them to a second row place behind
them, otherwise I would be deaf now!
The house rocked, the musicians on stage as well as the audience infront
of the stage. With a capacity of 600 people the place was filled.
People celebrated Mike Tramp here, but what else should I have expected,
it is his hometown! No chance to compare this to any show I have seen
before, not even with the one at Zlín/Czech, where a lot of people have
been there, most of them seemed to be fans for ages. This was Copenhagen
and it was a new experience for me! Mike himself seemed to love to play
at his hometown. All his friends and family have been there!
He talked a lot, but almost everything was danish. He made jokes, and
the audience was laughing, I haven't understood a word! My danish
friends had to translate for us foreigners.
They were recording a live CD this evening, which will be released at
november, right in time for christmas shopping. In this case wouldn't it
be better to talk more in english? But I don't care, it is his hometown,
so let him talk in his native tongue! It sounds good anyways!

They played some songs from the actual
album, as well as some goodies from the White Lion era and Freak Of
Nature era. A good mixture that fits well on a live CD!
All in all he played about two hours! His musicians proofed to be the
right ones for the job. Along with Mike on vocals and rythm guitar there
were Oliver Steffensen on lead guitar, Claus Langeskov on bass guitar
and Kasper Foss on drums.
Kasper proofed to be loyal, he is the only remaining from the last years
musicians. He did a great job, I bet someday he will become a well known
drummer! And he is so sweet, afterwards he took the time to talk to
everyone that wanted, and he didn't saved up compliments, gentleman-like!
Oliver is a friend of Mike for ages, the two founded Freak Of Nature
some time ago. He is technically a great guitarist, and you can see his
joy in his face while playing. He is more lively on stage like René was
the year before, and I would say he even fits better in Mikes music.
Last but not least there is Claus. He plays bass guitar, so he was
technically the most intersting for me! He plays a different style then
Emil last year, but I can't say which one is better, I like both. Only
thing, he isn't as lively as Emil, he is more a calm one!
With that musicians their is a lot of the show from last year missing,
but the technically quality of the music rose, and the four fit together
well, so lets hope this fellowship will last for long, so we will see a
lot of great shows!
That one was definitively one of my best ever, I will remember that for
long.
After the show we got the chance to spend some time with the musicians,
we even made a pic of us and Mike. At this moment Mike said some things
about friendship we won't ever forget, and he said some things about
internet and the messageboard, we couldn't believe our ears! He made us
all very happy!
I won't forget the moment I wanted to talk to Mike after the show, I
just wanted to say thank you for the great evening. We haven't talked
before that evening. We had a short hello at Dresden, but it was too
loud to talk more! The last time I talked to him in private was at
Berlin in March last year, one and a half year ago!
Before I had the chance to talk a single word to Mike at Copenhagen,
someone was faster and reached Mike some booklets he should sign. For
that he needed both hands, so he handed ME his beer can with the words
"Nadja, please take that for me!" I couldn't believe my ears, he knew my
name after that long time! I wonder how I have looked at this moment,
but with that he completely made his way into my soul! Mike you are my
hero, you give me so much with your music, so much strenght for life!
Please keep on making music for long although music business gets worse
every day! Can you imagine what your music means to us?
I don't regret a single minute I spend on the road or a single cent I
payed, I won't ever forget that day! |
